Artist Bio
Nonie Dauphinais is a retired elementary school teacher from Aurora, Ontario. Primarily a self-taught artist, she has taken several art courses over the years, most recently completing classes in acrylic pouring and alcohol ink at the Alabama Coastal Arts Center in Orange Beach, Alabama, USA.
She experimented in a variety of media before discovering acrylic fluid art. To Dauphinais, the medium provides a freedom of expression with only the canvas size as a boundary. The minimalist view created by the interplay of acrylic paints is what she takes from a scene — but it can be anything in the eye of the viewer.
The pouring process is deeply personal: the color choices, techniques, and movements on the canvas tell her story in ways words cannot.
